The Process
step 1 - select your chain
We have several designs of sterling silver and 14/20 gold fill chains in stock. See below for our menu of in stock chains with prices. Some chain styles (indicated below with*) require us to solder tiny rings onto the ends. These chains will require about one business day lead time before they are ready to weld on to the wearer. We also can special order chains that are not in stock, including 14 karat gold. Please see the bottom of this page for information on gold pricing.
step 2 - measure your wrist or ankle
A precise, custom fit is crucial for permanent jewelry, both for the functionality and aesthetic. We will measure your wrist and cut your chain to your exact size, leaving just enough room to weld the chain closed and have a little extra for the chain to move around your wrist. The close fit will greatly reduce the chance of snagging and help maximize the life of your permanent jewelry. The close fit also helps your jewelry "play well" with other jewelry and with your clothing. Visually, the perfect fit gives an unmistakably custom and personalized appearance that stays with you, effortlessly.
step 3 - consider a clasp
We can add a clasp to any permanent jewelry design. The clasp is small and discrete for minimal visual impact. The piece would still be intended for constant wear, but you would have the option to remove when needed. Due to how small the clasp is, you may need help from a friend to put it back on. Without the clasp, the bracelet will need to be cut off if you do need to remove it for any reason. The clasp option is $10.00 for sterling silver and $15.00 for 14/20 gold fill.
step 3 - customize it with a charm, gem, and/or quality mark
We can add a custom-made-in-house stamped charm to your bracelet. The circular disk can be either soldered in line with the chain itself or spot welded with a small ring. Likewise, we can add a small bezel set gem. A "sterling" quality mark can be added on a discrete bar, soldered in line with the chain.
- stamped sterling silver disk soldered in line: $45
- stamped sterling disk attached with a ring: $30
- lab made gem, bezel set in sterling silver, soldered in line: $65
- lab made gem, bezel set in sterling silver, attached with a ring: $35
- "sterling" quality mark on a bar: $30
step 4 - spot weld and stress test
When the jewelry is ready to apply, the person doing the spot weld will wear disposable gloves and a face mask. If the piece is an anklet, the wearer will remove her shoe, clean her foot with a wet wipe and wear a plastic foot cover during the application. After the weld is finished, we will stress test the piece to prove a degree of durability.

Pricing for Solid Gold Permanent Jewelry
We can procure any of these chains and (many more) in solid 14 Karat gold for your permanent jewelry piece. We do not stock any solid gold chain or findings, so orders for solid gold jewelry will need a lead time of 3-5 business days. When you get a quote for permanent jewelry in gold, the quote will be for a length about 1 inch longer than we anticipate actually using. This slightly oversized length will be precisely trimmed to your wrist or ankle and applied, just like with our permanent jewelry in silver and 14/20 gold fill. Unlike with those metals, where we price based on size ranges, for solid gold we will measure the left over bit of chain and adjust the final price accordingly. The extra chain will be weighed, the gold content calculated and valued at that day's spot price. That dollar amount will be deducted from your final invoice price. This way, you only pay for the gold in your item, and we keep the scrap.
